Our history—2000 to 2004 highlights

2004 highlights:

• The patient tower and related renovations were completed by October 2004.
• Twenty-four year-old Marlon Smith, of Blanchester, became the first patient of the new Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory.
• The first week of the New Year at Clinton Memorial Hospital began with a move into the new Intensive Care unit and the opening of the new Women’s Diagnostic Center off the atrium.
• New Rehabilitation Services areas open in Clinton Memorial Hospital
• Laboratory Services moves into newly renovated and expanded space.
• Sleep Care moves into renovated space in the hospital.
• A new computerized medication system promotes patient safety by having medication orders go through a series of safety checkpoints.
• Six resident physicians graduate from the CMH Family Practice Residency.
• Pharmacy Services at Clinton Memorial Hospital moves to a new location on the third floor.
• CMH implements a new physician contact management tool that makes communication between physicians, their colleagues, and the patient care team easier and quicker.

2003 highlights:

• Chicago native Timothy J. Crowley, 55, of Grand Rapids, Mich., is named the eighth president and chief executive officer of CMH Regional Health System/Clinton Memorial Hospital.
• Hospital’s new patient tower and the gateway/atrium that leads to virtually all hospital services opens. The new Mother-Baby Care Unit and the Surgery Center open in the spring, followed later in the year by two new patient floors.
• East Wing of Clinton Memorial Hospital is razed after having served the southwestern Ohio community for more than 52 years.
• In December a record number of more than 3,300 patients visit Emergency Services.
• The new Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit receives certification from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Ohio Department of Health.
• CMH’s new Surgery Center begins offering a new treatment for prostate cancer called brachytherapy.
• Clinton Community Dental Services opens.
• Medical acupuncture is offered as a part of the new CMH Complementary and Alternative Medicine Program.
• A new CMH medical office building opens in Warren County.
• The move into a new patient tower and the dedicated efforts of every CMH employee are rewarded with some of the highest patient satisfaction scores ever.
• The CMH Foundation raises more than $8 million in its 11th year.
• Dr. Philip Aschi, a urologist, is presented the third annual CMH Physician’s Recognition Award.
• Honored with inaugural CMH Medical Staff Legacy of Leaders awards are the late Dr. H. Richard Bath, the late Dr. Nathan Hale, the late Dr. David Hamilton, Dr. Foster J. Boyd and Dr. Richard Buchanan.
• The Ohio Hospital Association recognizes CMH for its workplace safety record in 2002.
• Four resident physicians formally graduate from the CMH Family Practice Residency Program and four first-year resident physicians join the program.
• An average of 150 volunteers—equivalent to more than 16 full time employees—donate nearly 34,000 hours of their time to CMH.
• SCO OBGYN, Inc., of Wilmington, whose three physicians are members of the CMH Medical Staff, opens a second office in Hillsboro.

2002 highlights:

• Advance directives counseling offered weekly.
• Newly structured Ambulatory Care Clinic at Clinton Memorial Hospital treats outpatients for specific treatments ordered by a physician.
• CMH begins offering a full range of lactation services to breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
• The Coalition for a Healthier Clinton County, with CMH Regional Health System serving as administrative and fiscal agent, receives a $250,000 grant over a two-year period from the Anthem Foundation of Ohio to support the development and implementation of a community dental clinic.
• Sleep Disorders Program starts.
• CMH Tobacco Grant assists those suffering with pulmonary disease.
• Clinton Memorial Hospital is a safe haven for newborns.
• Ohio KePRO, Inc., presents CMH with a quality award for participation in its Health Care Quality Improvement Program and National Inpatient Projects.
• Clinton Memorial Hospital one of five in SW Ohio’s region 1 to be designated a trauma center.
• CMH Regional Health System’s Leadership Institute is a large-business leader for 2002.

2001 highlights:

• CMH AfterHours expands its operating hours to 60 per week.
• CMH unveils a new customized physical-training program specifically for golfers that is directed by specially trained physical therapists from CMH Rehabilitation Services.
• The CMH Center for Women’s Health Services receives a $6,500 grant to increase awareness in the adolescent population about family planning services available at the center.
• Clinton Memorial Hospital’s Mother-Baby Care Services begins performing newborn hearing screening procedures on all infants prior to hospital discharge.
• The Ohio Department of Health’s Primary Care and Rural Health Program honors the CMH Family Practice Residency Program with an Ohio Distinguished Rural Health Award.
• A second mammography unit goes into service at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
• CMH takes delivery of 1,500 child booster seats from the Ford Motor Company that will be distributed free of charge to needy families in the CMH service area with at-risk children.
• CMH and the Emergency Medical Services Council resurrect the Vial of Life Program that the hospital conducted years earlier.
• New vials and forms are offered so that area residents can complete medical history forms and place them in the vial for safekeeping.

2000 highlights:

• CMH’s millenium baby, Emily Sue Tissander of Blanchester, is born at 9:04 a.m.
• Volunteer Services is estimated to save system $326,000.
• CMH withdraws from the Community Health Plan of Ohio.
• New surgery suite opens.
• CMH begins $35 million building and renovation project on the hospital campus.
• New physicians’ building opens in Blanchester.
• Athletic training programs expands to include freshman, seventh, and eighth grade students.
• CMH adds photo nursery to Web site.
